Community Outreach

At DunnCox, we embrace our responsibility as a good corporate citizen to the downtown Kingston community, in which the head office of the firm is located, and to the wider Jamaican society. We frequently lend support to the meaningful projects and activities undertaken by a number of organizations, groups and service clubs. In particular, those projects that focus on improving the lives of the youth are very special to the DunnCox team.

For many years, the firm provided material support for a day-care centre serving the downtown community. During 2003, we decided to expand our outreach programme to help meet the pressing educational and recreational needs of the children resident in the immediate environs of the Kingston office.

We are proud of our association with education in the region. DunnCox is a member of the University of the West Indies’, Century Club; made up of committed individuals, associations and companies who have contributed a minimum of J$1 million to the Fund. Not only is the firm a Century Club Member, but we have also supported academic excellence by awarding scholarships, bursaries and prizes to students pursuing LL.B. degrees at the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School. The DunnCox Law Scholarship is tenable at the University of the West Indies, Faculty of Law, Cave Hill Campus, for a period of two years. The Scholarship is awarded to an applicant of high academic achievement; good character and excellent leadership qualities. DunnCox has been a contributor to the U.W.I. The DunnCox award is presented bi-annually to a Jamaican national who has successfully completed the first year of study leading to the LL.B. degree at the University of the West Indies. The firm also awards the Michael March Memorial Prize and the H.H. Dunn Prize to students in the first year with the best performance in Remedies and Legal Drafting and Interpretation respectively.
